Went to Asda today for the first time in quite a while as The Bus Company Formerly Known As Preston Bus now accept Stagecoach day rider tickets as Stagecoach now own their asses!

Anyway back on topic, get to the tills and even on the self scan machines (which in themselves are a spawn of satan) there are no carrier bags appart from bags for life which cost 5p. So what’s going on here.

Presumably even Asda have joined the saving carrier bags initiative, where we now charge people for the priviledge of having something to carry home the items that we are also charging the people for! We’ve noticed for some time that the same holds true for the home delivery shopping where despite assurances that the shopping is picked as though you were doing the shopping yourself, they then proceed to ram 100 heavy tins, jars and bottles into one small carrier bag that splits the second you lift it out of the packing crates throwing a mess of glass, metal, beans, jam, vinegar and mayonaise all over your doorstep.

So it’s all well and good trying to save the world by saving plastic but not at the expense of other resources caused by things breaking!

May end up being worth nothing but when all you need to do is sign up to a site for free frankly it’s worth a go.

A new social networking site is launching soon and they are offering 1000 free shares for pre-registering and 3000 for each additional person you refer to the site. They are hoping by 2012 that the shares will be worth £0.58 each. Whether they will or not remains to be seen but frankly for two minutes of your time it’s probably worth a go.

If you want to sign up just follow this linky

A lot of people on the forums I visit are claiming CBB (celebrity big brother) is a fix as favourite Verne Troyer gets voted 4th and then Coolio comes in third.

Frankly I agree but don’t think it is channel 4 or endemol who are fixing the result. Just look at this objectively, which is going to be cheaper for the bookmakers?

1. Paying out on a hotly backed favourite such as Verne Troyer who even today had bets as large as £6000 placed on him

2. Making a few phone calls

Not a hard choice is it?
